Leadership in Action (LIA) is modeled after a nationwide community awareness and leadership training effort. It is the only program of its kind that focuses solely on the issues facing Paulding County. LIA equips future business and civic leaders with the knowledge and experience necessary to make an impact in our community. Throughout the course, participants tour Paulding County and engage in discussions and activities with established community leaders to address critical community issues.
Each class is comprised of 15-20 local business professionals and residents alike, including Chamber members and non-members. These individuals are interested in becoming actively involved in decisions facing our growing community. Many class members are already involved in local civic and professional organizations.
Leadership in Action begins with a mandatory retreat, followed by eight day- long sessions. The sessions are held the third Wednesday of each month. Graduation festivities follow the final session. A commitment to 100% attendance is expected from all participants.
What occurs at the daylong sessions?
Topics studied throughout the program include the environment, health care, ethics, education, transportation, economic development, and government. Each session features presentations from local leaders, behind-the-scenes tours, small group discussions and team building activities.
What is the cost of the program?
Tuition is $275 and covers all program expenses and materials, including the orientation retreat, all sessions, materials, meals, and graduation festivities.
